Yahoo Personals , a review. Yahoo Personals verses Adult Friend Finder. We have reviewed all of the internet's most prominent personals websites. Yahoo Personals definitely made it into the finals, but they were beat out (even Yahoo) by the superior Friend Finder suite of sites. Yahoo Personals is undoubtedly an impressive service, however, the AFF sites have just been around so long they are difficult to compete with, since 1996 in fact. Yahoo Personals is still relatively new.

Yahoo Personals boasts many of the same features as AFF, but shear traffic takes the cake. AFF has 50% more unique visitors per day than Yahoo Personals, and this means more (active) members, more new users signing up per day, more satisfied (returning) customers at a higher frequency, and several other obvious contributing factors.

Yahoo Personals failure to the friend finder networks is most likely attributed as much to the power of the AFF affiliate program as the longevity of the program's life. Yahoo Personals owned by Yahoo! Inc. relies heavily on its freely obtained traffic (they own the search engine and the chat rooms that they advertise in). AFF doesn't have this luxury, so they must rely very heavily on external sources of traffic. One such very proven source of traffic is an affiliate program, by which a company will pay 3rd party webmasters to promote their site. Usually the webmaster receives a commission of either a set amount per click, per signup, or per monthly renewal. AFF's is a better affiliate program, and therefore more webmasters send them traffic.

Both are free services, with upgrades that members can subscribe to. AFF's free membership is less restrictive than YP's and the upgrades are more attractive and useful to the member, and thus, more attractive.

YP is not a bad program, we certainly don't want to give anyone that impression. We have used both - we are simply expressing our opinion that when you go to the trouble of placing a personal ad, you want the best chance of it being responded to, right? Then you want to be with the largest program that has the most active members (people who are actually still with the program) not to mention the service that has the highest frequency returning visits by members. AFF is this service, their members log in more frequently than any other single's program because there is so much to do as a member. Many different tools you can chose to employ or not, such as the cupid reports, the personality surveys, the chat rooms, the video cam chats, the powerful distance search (as few as 5 miles from your home). AFF just makes more since than Yahoo Personals.
